Arsenal’s Johan Djourou, who recently joined Bundeliga side Hannover on loan for the rest of the season, is hoping that he can make the deal permanent.
Despite there not being an option to buy included in the loan arrangement, Djourou said
“Arsenal did not want to include a buy option. But those things don’t worry me right now. I have to perform first, to make sure Hannover want to buy me.”
“As a team we have the quality to reach the Champions League. Everything has to work out great and we all have to stay fit. It is a high goal, but you need to have them in sport.”
Djourou found himself on the fringes at Arsenal after slipping down the pecking order to become the club’s fourth choice centreback behind Thomas Vermaelen, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.
The move to Hannover was confirmed at the start of the month with Djourou saying
I joined the club who wanted me the most. At my age, the priority is to play regularly.
To do this, I did not hesitate to refuse offers with the most exclusive clubs who made important financial efforts.
At Arsenal since 2003, Djourou is Arsenal’s longest serving player.
