Arsenal’s Johan Djourou recently completed his move to Bundelisga side Hannover 96 where he will spend the rest of the season. Despite the German side wishing to include an option to buy the Swiss defender Arsenal refused and he will return to his parent club when the deal expires.

Speaking to the Swiss website Blick, Johan has been giving his first impressions of life in Germany.

Djourou has already pulled on the Hannover shirt and played for 43 minutes at the Blitz Tournament training camp in Portugal and the press seem to like what they have seen of the player already, describing him as a strong player who wins almost every tackle.

He said

I enjoyed it and hope that I can preserve my shape.

I am very happy to play in Hannover. I hope I can use my power.

Also speaking on the official Hannover website, Djourou expressed why he chose to join the club

I’m here because the club has made a good impression on me and seems to be very well organised.

And about the comparisons between the Premier League and Bundesliga

Both leagues are very similar to me. For me these are the two best, because there is a great atmosphere and they are set good goals.

But I would say maybe in the German league, you need a little more on tactics because here there is more work on the tactical orientation and such things.
