As Johan Djourou’s loan deal to Hannover is completed, their manager and coach have been speaking in Bild about the deal.
Manager Jorg Schmadtke admitted that they wanted to include an option to buy the Swiss international but
Arsenal have not consented
Their coach, Mirko Slomka added about Djourou’s arrival
He will be a tremendous addition.
Djourou himself has also been talking about the transfer after previously having admitted that he joined Hannover as they were the club who wanted him the most, Johan said
I am pleased it went so fast and I was able to fly with 96 to the training camp.
Now I look forward to working with my new colleagues.
Djourou had found himself slipping down the ranks at Arsenal but the club’s refusal to allow a buy option is perhaps telling. Could the loan be to allow Djourou to regain the form which he showed? Will he be brought back in to the Arsenal fold next season? It does seem likely but many factors will play their part, not least the demands of a player who, once given regular football, may not wish to return to being fourth choice.
